About the Farm

We’ve been keeping it fresh since ‘43.

Sunnycrest Farm has been a proud part of the Londonderry community since 1943, when Al Conner, an agricultural teacher at Pinkerton High School, purchased the land. At the time, Londonderry was a quiet farming town, with only part of High Range Road paved. Al’s vision was to build a working farm that could provide fresh food while supporting his family. He raised pigs and chickens and experimented with a wide variety of crops—from celery to peanuts—but was happiest out in the fields, especially among the blueberries, talking with pick-your-own customers. In 1973, Al passed the farm on to the next generation: his son John and daughter-in-law Nancy, along with his daughter Gretchen and her husband Daniel Hicks Jr. Their hard work and dedication helped the farm grow while staying true to its roots.

As you walk the fields today, you can still see the passion of each generation—Al in the blueberries, John in the peaches and strawberries, and the Hicks family in their beloved apple orchards. What began as a small, diversified farm has grown into a place rooted in quality farming, family tradition, and community connection.

Today, Sunnycrest Farm is proudly operated by Daniel Hicks III and his wife, Kelley. The tradition continues with the next generation, as Daniel Hicks IV prepares to carry the farm forward for years to come.
